CamStudio v2.0s
The source code for CamStudio v2.0s contains some slight difference from the binary version v2.0. To note, the code for the Record Audio From Speakers feature are absent from this release.
This incomplete release of code is due to the fact that the authors who contributed these portions are still uncomfortable sharing them with the public. We have, therefore, withhold these portions out of respect for these authors.
We are negotiating with the authors and we hope to resolve this issue soon.
Source Code License for v2.0s (GPL / Commercial)
The source code for CamStudio v2.0s and v1.8s is now under GPL (GNU General Public License). You are required to release your source code if you distribute products that are derived from CamStudio's source.
If you intend to use the source of CamStudio for commercial purposes, or if you do not wish to release the source code of your modifications, you can purchase a commercial license to use the source without the above restriction

Q&A :
It seems CamStudio has too many licenses. Which one should I follow ?
Depending on how you use CamStudio, you are covered by one of the following licenses:
1) Binary License
If you are an end-user that do not need the source code, you can install and run multiple copies of CamStudio in your organization free of charge.
The AVI files created with CamStudio may be used for any purposes, including commercial purposes. You may sell your recorded .AVI files or charge users for products that include those AVIs.
2) Source License v1.8s and v2.0s -- GPL (GNU General Public License)
If you create and distribute a product that is derived from the source code of CamStudio, you are required to release the source of your product under GPL.
For more information, please refer to http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl-faq.html
3) Source License v1.8s and v2.0s -- Commercial
3) If you intend to use the source of CamStudio for commercial purposes, or if you do not wish to release the source code of your modifications, you may pay a licensing fee to obtain a commercial license.
The fee you've paid applies only to the current version. If a new version of the source code is released, you are required to pay the additional licensing fees if you intend to use the source of the new version.
Please note :
If you simply compile the source of CamStudio v.18s and distribute internally without modifications, you do not need to purchase a commercial license.
